London Blue Topaz & Songea Yellow Sapphires in Solid 14k & 18k Wire-wrapped
This piece is inspired by the Vatican's Pontfical Swiss Guards (The Pope's Swiss Guards)
Sworn protectors of Our Pope, the original colors were blue and gold as issued by Pope Julius II in the turn of the 16th century when they were officially recognized by the Vatican (January 21, 1506). Much like Archangels are in Heaven, they are the most loyal and fiercest off all security for the Vatican.
Genuine London Blue Topaz in 7.5mm faceted gem grade rondelles are capped with handmade 18k filigree beads to compose the Aves. So stunning in person, transparent and with breathtaking sparkle, this rare Topaz (London Blue is the most valuable of all the Topaz family.) resembles midnight blue. The Paters are solid 14k Filigree in a discontinued style, I only have a limited amount I can repeat. The Paters are accented with rare Songea sapphires in vibrant faceted YELLOW & BLUE rondelles and are also fine gem grade. To complete this masterpiece, a genuine openwork Creed center in 14k and a piece from the Feodorov Collection in St. Petersburg make the Crucifix.
The Cross tells a story of St. Michael the Archangel bringing down the Devil, along with the choir of the Archangels for our protection. The front shows the Crucifixion as depicted in the Bible with Our Lady and the youngest apostle St. John standing next to Our Christ, along with other followers. Incredibly detailed, composed from solid sterling silver for the 3 dimensional pictures and enameled in pure 24k (.999), these pieces come with a holographic certificate of authenticity along with a pamphlet of the story behind the cross. They are written in Russian and are limited pieces. This Cross has a collector's value of over $850.00.
